SBL DAM PLAYOFFS - UPPSALA VS ÖSTERSUND 2:3
As the regular season in SBL Dam ended, one of our Soleteams Uppsala Basket came in 5th place and faced Solecoach Alva Stark and her Östersund Basket in the first round. The quarterfinals are played in a best-of-three format, meaning the first game is super crucial. It was a tight game, with Uppsala leading the way most of the game but in the clutch, home court advantage played it’s role as Östersund played with composer and won the first game. As the series shifted to Uppsala, the pressure was on both teams. Uppsala had to win, or as Solecoach Chioma Nnamaka called it; ”a do or die situation” but at the same time, Östersund wanted to avoid playing a deciding game - home court or not.
For me personally, it was great to see both of my friends and our Solecoaches Chioma and Alva battle in the Playoffs. Even tho they have great respect of each other and speak highly about the other, it was still a competitive game for sure. Also it was cool to see young up n coming star and Storyteller Astrid Frankl Sandberg perform on the big stage, as I've seen her play in Sthlm last couple of years as a youth player. There's been a lot of talks about her game, and I'm not surprised why. She got game. I've seen her dominate some games, but never in the top league before, and as just a 19 year old it's a big difference. Not only to play in SBL, but add the playoffs to it as well.
One of the coolest parts of this game, was the fact that all three of Uppsala's coaches rocked Solestory sweats and hoodies, as they always do. Even tho I'm a fan of the classier suit style, not much tops that.
We got to travel with Östersund to Uppsala and talk before the game with both coaches and follow the game from the benches and listen in during timeouts. We take you behind the scenes and inside the locker rooms as this was a great game. Just like Playoffs should be.
